Guides / I already filed a wrong one

I already filed a certified payroll that was wrong. What now?

First, do not panic and do not ignore it.

A wrong payroll you fix yourself looks very different to an agency than a wrong payroll they catch.

You file a corrected certified payroll for that week. You mark it as a correction, you fix the rows that were wrong, and if workers were underpaid you pay the difference and show it. The sooner you do it, the smaller it stays. Underpayments do not age well. They turn into back wages, held payments, and questions about every other week.

The hard part is knowing exactly what was wrong so the correction is actually right, and you are not filing a second wrong one.

Send me the payroll you already filed. I will mark the exact rows and tell you what the corrected version needs.
